Phonovisual

The Phonovisual Method
ORGANIZED PHONICS
The Phonovisual Method offers a quick, easy, and fun way to teach all initial and final consonant sounds, and the vowel sounds. Using two charts (the CONSONANT CHART and the VOWEL CHART) clearly establishes the relationship between the letter symbol and its sound.

A SHORT CUT TO TEACHING CONSONANT BLENDS
Not having to teach blends separately has sometimes been called Phonovisuals’s most important contribution to education. About twenty-nine consonant blends are learned without special teaching!

TAUGHT AS A SEPARATE SUBJECT
The Phonovisual Method eliminates grouping concerns, and is taught to the whole class for an average of 15-30 minutes per day. Students develop critical listening skills, and use the instruction for reading (decoding) or spelling/writing (encoding). These skills are reinforced and applied throughout the day during reading, language arts, and spelling periods!

UNIVERSAL
All learners, at all levels, benefit from Phonovisual instruction. Early readers strengthen spelling and writing abilities. Students with learning disabilities benefit from the multi-sensory approach. Remedial students master a basic step in beginning reading. For ESL students, the Phonovisual Method emphasizes hearing and correctly producing the sounds of the English language as students associate the letter with the sound.
